Chapter 02 · Wearing
How to wear a penile tension ring for erectile dysfunction
To wear a FirmTech penile tension ring, loop it behind the testicles and around the base of the penis while soft, then adjust the strap until it is snug but comfortable.
Penile tension rings for erectile dysfunction work only while they are on, so putting one on correctly matters. FirmTech's rings take a few seconds, go on before an erection, and use an anatomical peno-scrotal fit designed with urologists to spread pressure evenly. Wear time depends on which ring you own.

How do you put on a penile tension ring?
Put it on while soft. Drop the testicles through the open loop, bring the second loop around the base of the penis, then tighten the strap until it feels snug. That is the whole process, and it takes seconds.
Three steps, in order
Step 1: Open the loop
Unhook the latch so the ring opens. Hold the loop open and drop the testicles through it.
Step 2: Set both loops
One loop now sits under the testicles and the other goes around the base of the penis.
Step 3: Fine-tune the fit
Adjust the hook-and-loop strap until it is snug but comfortable. It should never hurt.
How long each ring can be worn

| MaxPR | Up to 90 minutes | No |
Wearing the TechRing overnight
The TechRing is the FirmTech ring that FirmTech says is designed and studied for overnight wear. While you sleep it counts and measures nighttime erections, which FirmTech says healthy men have 3 to 5 of each night.
In the morning, hold the button for 3 seconds, put it on the charger, and connect in the app to sync. A full charge takes 2 to 4 hours and lasts about 12 hours. One verified reviewer found it best to build up to overnight wear over time.

- Rinse with warm water and mild soap after each use, then dry.

Signs it is too tight
Pain, numbness, coldness or a change in skin color all mean the ring is too tight or has been on too long. Open the latch and remove it. See erection ring side effects and check your fit on the size chart.

Wearing questions
All 40+ questions in the FAQ- How do you put on a penile tension ring?
- For FirmTech rings: open the loop and drop the testicles through it, so one loop sits under the testicles and the other goes around the base of the penis, then fine-tune the strap for comfort. It takes seconds and is designed to be done while soft, ahead of time.
- How long can I wear an erection ring?
- It depends on the ring. FirmTech rates the TechRing and Performance Ring for up to 12 hours, and the TechRing is designed for overnight wear. The MaxPR, its tightest ring, is rated for up to 90 minutes at a time. Always follow the wear time for the specific ring you own.
- Can I sleep in an ED ring?
- The TechRing is the FirmTech ring designed and studied for overnight wear, according to FirmTech, and it is rated for up to 12 hours. Overnight it counts and measures nighttime erections, which FirmTech says healthy men have 3 to 5 of per night. Do not sleep in the MaxPR, which is rated for up to 90 minutes.
- Does an ED ring stop ejaculation?
- No. FirmTech says its rings keep blood in without blocking release, so they do not restrict ejaculation. The ring works by holding blood in the erection rather than closing off anything else. If a ring ever feels like it is blocking you, it is likely too tight and should be loosened.
- What lube can I use with an ED ring?
- Use water-based or silicone-based lubricants only. FirmTech says not to use natural oil lubricants such as coconut oil or CBD oils with any of its rings. FirmTech also sells Sliquid Naturals Silver, a silicone lubricant, from $18, if you want one that is matched to the rings.
- How do I clean an erection ring?
- Rinse it with warm water and mild soap after each use, then wipe it dry. The Performance Ring and MaxPR are water resistant and the TechRing is splashproof. TechRing replacement sleeves start at $15, and FirmTech suggests replacing the sleeve about every 30 nights of use.
- How do you charge the TechRing?
- With the included USB charger. A full charge takes 2 to 4 hours and lasts about 12 hours, enough for a full night. The Performance Ring and MaxPR have no electronics at all, so there is nothing to charge, pair or set up before you wear them.
